Chapter 8

Paige Pov:

I was sitting next to Nika and Evina, we were currently in the stands to watch Elli's game. They were all currently warming up but I couldn't seem to see Elli there yet. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion, I then turn to Evina.

"Where's Elli?" I ask

"Probably wrapping her ankle up so she doesn't hurt it again" She responds looking onto the field

"What do you mean so she doesn't hurt it again," I ask concerned

"She hurt her ankle pretty bad last year by trying to block the goal. She ended up toppling over the player and injuring her ankle. It's not exactly fully healed, but Elli being the stubborn person she is, continues to play"

"Oh.." That is all I manage to say

I look back over on the field and see Elli walking onto the field. We make eye contact and she smiles at me. I could see the red on her cheeks, I smile back and wave at her. She shyly waves back at me before looking over to Jada.

She then jogs over to Jada since they shouted at her.

The game just had ended and the team ended up winning butler 2-0. Elli was really great today, she blocked shots from getting in the goal. She was really concentrated and just a whole different person on the field. The playfulness in her eyes was no longer evident when she was playing. Instead, it was replaced with a concentrated and cool demeanor.

Issy was walking up the stands while I was staring at the field. She walked over to the seats where I was seated and tapped my shoulder. I turn to look at her.

"You can come down if you want to, everybody left," She said

I nod and stand up from the seat and start walking down the bleachers. "You played great you know," I say looking at her

"Thanks," She says

"So where are you taking Elli for the date?" She says teasingly

I blushed looking away from her. "How'd you know?" I ask confused

"I'm not dumb, plus I and Nika may have eavesdropped," She says shrugging her shoulders

"Of course you two did' I say rolling my eyes playfully. "And to answer your question I'm taking her on a picnic" I respond

"Aww so cute!" She says teasing me

"You know she was nervous today?" Issy says

"What why?" I asked

"Cause you were gonna be here and she didn't want to make a fool of herself in front of you." She responds

I chuckle before shaking my head. "She could never, I'll still see her the same way as I always do," I respond

"And that is.." She trails off for me to finish

"Beautiful, amazing, caring, funny," I say looking away from her

"You've fallen hard man," Issy says

"Shut up," I say smacking her shoulder

We had reached the field and she led me to the way their locker room was. I stood outside by the locker room waiting for Elli. Issy left to who knows where.

"Hey" I hear a soft voice say

I turn around and see Elli, even though she was just in some grey sweatpants and a black hoodie she looked stunning. I smile at her as I pull her in for a hug. I place my chin on the top of her head.

"Hi" I murmur into the top of her head.

We pull away from the embrace, I grab our hands intertwining them together.

"You played great today" I complimented her

"Thank you, but I think there's the thing I could clean up," She says smiling "Is it ok that I go in sweatpants? If you want we could go to my dorm so I could change" She rambles which causes me to laugh

"Your beautiful just the way you are," I say which causes her to blush

"You wanna go on that date now?" I asked

She nods her head smiling at me. We then start walking out of the field, with our hands still together. I was honestly so happy that I'm finally going to be able to go on a date with the girl I'd been crushing on.
