This film is about teenager crushing on her classmate and getting help from a fairy god(gay) mother who is basically a dead gay relative who missed the opportunity to pass on their gay wisdom and the movie is as quirky as it sounds.
There were scenes in the movie which had me blushing, giggling and gave me some hardcore second hand embarrassment. Especially the scene where Ellie shouted at her crush because she was too scared to give her the gay signals. Not gonna lie Ellie may seem kind of insufferable and kept screaming at Abbie for reasons that was not her fault but she is still young and has room to grow.
Although her jokes were a bit cringe, Ellie's aunt is a aunt every queer kid deserves. Her backstory made me a bit emotional but it still didn't make me sympathize the mom's homophobic and self centered behavior.
Honestly this is a pretty good rom-com and I can't believe it took me this long to find it. At the end I can only say I wish I also had a fairy god mother to help me get a gf because I desperately need it.
