(Y/N) POV

You watched the screen carefully, eyes wide with curiosity at the big black letters scrolling across. "3 dead in apparent murder-suicide." Apparent. It's obviously it was a murder suicide. You sighed and shook your head, wondering how adults could be so dumb sometimes. Didn't they ever observe? Or did they just look but not really see? The problem with adults is they don't have an imagination, they just think inside a tiny confined box. You sighed again as the dumb news anchor came out, spewing out vague information just to keep the viewers staying on their channel for more information. From the look of it, the investigation hadn't even started yet.

In other words, Sherlock Holmes wasn't there yet. You thought of how cool it would be to watch him solve a crime, up close and personal.

And then you thought about how the crime scene was close enough that you could see the lights of the ambulance flashing in the distance.

And how you could beat Sherlock Holmes there. Then deduce the murder before he got there, and impress him enough that he would just have to adopt you and make you his mentor.

Woah, slow down (y/n), you thought to yourself. There's a reason you haven't been adopted. No one wants you.

The thought stung your heart, but you ignored it by plotting how to sneak out without any of the adults seeing you. You glanced out your window, noticing that all the kids were outside in the backyard, and all the adults but Melinda were down there. Knowing her though, she'd probably be asleep at the front desk.

You hopped down from the chair and walked to your shared room, slipped on a coat and shoes, and crept down the stairs. Just like you suspected, Melinda was fast asleep, snoring like she at night that kept you awake sometimes. You peeked around corners as you crept to the front door. Through one of the windows you heard Brandon yelling in the backyard and you rolled your eyes.

You reached the front and glanced behind you one more time to make sure you were in the clear. You turned the knob and inched the door open. It let out a long creak and you froze, turning towards Melinda. She snorted loudly once, and you ducked to try and hide. She stayed sleeping though, and when her breathing returned to normal, you slipped out the door and was gone.

3RD PERSON POV

"Did you really need me to solve this for you Grady?"

Greg rolled his eyes and huffed. "Trust me, I wouldn't ask you to come just because I miss you or anything."

"Well no one would," contributed John with a chuckle.

"Good, because I wouldn't come," answered Sherlock, sticking his nose up in the air. They walked under the police tape and into the house. Not many people were in there, seeing as they were ordered to not touch the scene until Sherlock was done inspecting. Someone pointed down the hall towards a room with the door half open. Sherlock looked behind him, nodding for the others to follow, that is until he saw Donovan and Anderson tagging along now.

"Oh no, not you two," he said. "I thought I smelt some low intelligence in the room."

"Haha, very funny freak," spat Donovan.

They walked down the hall to the end. From where he stood, Sherlock could see blood splatters on the door and on the floor; his heart sped up in excitement. He pushed the door open so it revealed the whole room. He saw four people laying around.
