They told me to sit like a lady,
cover my flaws, hide my imperfections,
be intelligent (but dumb enough to fit in),
focus on shopping, not on books,
don't care about the world, focus on looks.

Society raised the bar high,
so high that its rare to reach it,
if you don't reach it, you're not cool,
if you are, you're a bitch.

That's not how this should work,
this machine of lies,
it's grounding us together,
extra, super, fine.

Creating a mold we have to fit,
squeeze yourself in,
be unique, but not unique,
you're required to fit in.
