Her/Him

She's a paradoxical figure

she might be

she might not be

and everybody thinks that when He mentions Her

He means Her

but they don't realize that He isn't Hers to hold at night

He isn't Hers to tell her love to

not after He left

and She let him

people need time

people need space

and some people just don't understanding

that waiting isn't giving up

waiting isn't giving in

it's waiting for another day

a different time

when maybe (just maybe)

He'll fall into Her arms again

so She hates it when they tell Her that everything He writes is about Her

it's not, not everything's about Her

but bits and pieces are, She knows

She knows more about Him than you do

so let them be

let them have some peace

don't worry about if, when, how

they'll find each other, because

that isn't in your control

you can't force love

you can encourage it, but you sure as hell can't force it

and you are in no position to do so

because it's not your love, now is it?

So, let them be

let Her wait, patiently

let Him go, into His mountains

and She'll go to Her mountains

and slowly

with some time and some space

things might just work out for them

maybe.

She'll still write about Him

and He'll still write about Her

but you'll never tell if they do or not

because maybe

their poems aren't about each other

they're about themselves

who they are

what they do

the things they've gone through

and the memories they made

together

and apart.

Let them be

and I think you'll see

it's there game to play

whether it be poker or chess

(He probably prefers poker)

(She prefers chess)

and time

heals everything

Her father told her that

Her father says it often

and he said it when He left Her

and She didn't know how Her father knew about Him

didn't know that Her father knew He needed time

but She's thankful for Her father's words

because Her father is wise

and if He were to meet him

they might just get along well

with time.
