This poem is actually a rap I came up with, so yeah. :)

And @The_Onlooker (don't know where he went....) is the person who told me I should write this. That was a long time ago, now that I remember. My topic was teen drug abuse, btw.

Anyway, here goes. :P

~~~
She went to that back alley,
the one behind Sally's,
didn't know how she,
would introduce herself now, but she,
Knew Tom was his name,
selling weed was his game,
he only did it for the fame,
she still wanted it all the same.
Her boyfriend left 3 months prior,
leaving her with a kid and a washer but no dryer,
yeah, she knows he was a liar,
so all she can do now is get higher,
Higher than that Eiffel Tower,
higher than that presidential power,
yet her stomach's feeling sour,
but she gotta get this done within the hour.
Get higher, don't fall down,
Get higher, up off the ground,
Forget about it all now,
Get higher, and don't fall down.
She pulls up by that beat up 'Vette,
she worries for a bit, but her decision's set,
she wants that dope right now but she don't admit,
she won't admit till she takes that hit,
That first drag of that cigarette in 8th grade,
yeah, she thought she had it made,
a popular kid, till she realized none would aid,
her, nah, they just used her when they wanna get laid.
Reminded of her bad decisions, she turns that car around a bit,
but then she remembers how he hit,
her, that day when he left, she felt like shit,
she reached for that whiskey, warmth the moment it touched her lips,
only 16, left with nothing, how her life would change,
the realization of this, she was headed down the wrong lane,
her heart and brain heavy, filled full of pain,
a love unrealistic, a love loved in vain.
Get higher, don't fall down,
Get higher, up off the ground,
Forget about it all now,
Get higher, and don't fall down.
As she approaches the dumpster, she slams the brakes,
looks up, into that dirty drug dealer's face,
turns the car around, and decides to shake,
shake the weed off, and now she's full of hate,
Hate towards her subconscious that told her,
"Hey, drugs will help ya take that sir,
and flush em down the toilet, he will never lure,
you again, in your memory he will never stir."
"Get higher, don't fall down,
Get higher, up off the ground,
Forget about it all now,
Get higher, and don't fall down."
Tears falling down her face into a pool,
at her shoes, she knows drugs ain't cool,
hell, she gotta go back to school,
get an education, and don't be a fool,
Don't let anybody tell you what your supposed to do,
Don't let anybody choose a plan for you,
Tell em all that they can go fuck a shoe,
When they ask you bout your past, just tell em "Who?"
Yeah, I've learned my lesson now,
Learned what not to do, and how,
How to stand up for myself, and not let you,
Control my life, Fuck that, Fuck you.
