Love is sacrifice. Love is service. Love is giving up something for someone.
To love is to be selfless and people are naturally selfish. It should be easy to love when we understand how loved we are. It should be easy to love when we understand that God proved his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8 CSB). We are to love because he first loved us (1 John 4:19). We are to love like Christ who sacrificed himself for us. Love is sacrificial. No one is perfect though. No one loves perfectly. I don't love perfectly. But when we overflow with Gods love we can make effort to love better.
Jesus did not say love others more, he said love others the way you love yourself (Matthew 22:39; Matthew 7:12). It is important to care for ourselves too. Check in on yourself. Journaling or talking to a friend are good ways to check in on yourself and praying also connects you with God.
