Fight For And With Love

CHAPTER 2 || Unwillingly ||

As the curtains were opened, Anna could feel a sharp beam of light fall on her face and she heard Alice say, "Wake up"
She stretched her arms and sat on the bed. She saw Alice was already changed into her normal clothes from her nightgown. Anna slowly got out of bed and Alice said,
"Get dressed"

"Why?"

"Remember, we need to go to the market"

"Oh....yes"

Saying this, Alice went out of the room and Anna changed from her nightgown. She went downstairs and Alice was in the kitchen, preparing breakfast. Anna said,
"You need anything?"

"Oh, you are here. I need a few eggs"

Anna took a small basket, big enough to fit around 5-6 eggs and she opened the door at the corner of the kitchen. She went out of the kitchen into open land where they raised chickens and if you went beyond the chicken coops, the extensive fields they owned were present.

Anna went near one of the coops and pulled the hook attached to the door to open it. She put her hand into the coop and brought out all the eggs she could. She then put these eggs into the basket and closed the coop. She stood up and dusted away the dry grass and dust she had gotten on her gown as she sat near the coop. She held the basket and walked into the kitchen and latched the door.

She gave Alice the eggs and she went and sat on a chair that usually was there in the kitchen all the time. Anna was looking down at the floor and she said to Alice,
"Where and how did you meet Matthew?"

"I met him in the market and we saw each other almost every single day and...."

"Oh....."

Meanwhile, Ella was downstairs and was reading the newspaper in her hands and was seated at the table. Alice kept a cup of tea and breakfast in a tray and went to the table and served it to Ella. Ella took the teacup in her hand and took a sip of the tea and smiled at Alice delightfully. Anna said,
"Umm..mother?"

"Yes Anna"

"Alice is going to the market, can I please go with her?"

"Sure dear"

Anna took a quick glance at Alice and turned back to her mother. Alice looking at Anna said,
"Shall we leave"

"Yes"

Both of them went out of the house and while going  through the living area, Anna was always amused by this painting that was hung next to an old wooden door that was forbidden to be opened by anyone in the house.

It was the painting of her father and her mother always told her that her father was a great soldier who died in the war. The painting had a wooden frame and at the bottom right side corner, it had his name written-James Augustus Lockwood. Below his name, she saw a black mark of paint. Alice has walked far in front of her and she called Anna and Anna stopped looking at the painting and went towards the door and walked next to Alice.

They walked through the road talking about normal stuff and they reached the market. Anna took the basket Alice got and pretended like she was shopping apples. Alice was standing almost next to her as Anna wanted to look at Matthew. Soon, Matthew came there and he started talking to Alice. Anna quickly saw them and she saw Matthew. He was talking so sweetly to Alice and she could see that Alice was turning red while talking to him. Alice saw that there was something on his hair and she gently pulled out the small piece of dry grass that got stuck in his curly black hair.

They soon started to walk away from Anna and Anna quickly turned and tried to go behind them when some man stamped her foot and with the pain, she fell down. She looked in the direction of that man and that person didn't even seem to care and was just walking away even without looking back. Anna, in a fit of anger said,

"Watch while you walk, you idiot"

That person turned back, looked at her on the ground and just went away as if nothing had happen.Alice was soon by her side and Matthew had left by then. She helped Anna to get up  and Anna said, "Let's go see where that idiot is off to"

Both of them took light, soundless steps and followed him to see that he went behind a few trees and met a friend of his. He removed the hat and his thick, brown coat and said to his friend,
"How long have I been waiting for you?"

The other person said, "I actually saw a beautiful girl near the shop"

"And you were lost into a conversation with her? Well...how many girls are you planning to fall in love with, Bradley?"

Bradley just grinned at him and Alice and Anna were still behind the tree, hiding. Anna said,
"Well...we didn't get that fool's name-"

Alice closed Anna's mouth with her hands and got her aside and said,
"Keep it low"

"But that guy just stamped my foot and walked away as if nothing happen"

"Did you shout at him?"

"A little"

"What did you shout?"

"I said, 'Watch while you walk, you idiot' "

"Anna, he is the Prince"

"What?"

"Yes. You know our king Richard, right?"

"Yes...."

"It is his son, Dylan"

Anna crosses her hands and even without a speck of regret or fear that she scolded the prince right in front of him, she said,
"So Amber Cove is going to be in the hands of an incapable, useless ruler"
Alice then said, "I guess you need to go and apologise to him"

"That's going to happen over my dead body, Alice. I am not going to go and apologise to someone without any wrong of mine and moreover, it is he who has to apologise to me"

"Anna! Please try to understand that he is the Prince. At least go apologise for my sake, please?"

Alice saw Anna with pleading eyes and Anna unwillingly said,

"Fine...."
