Greg pulled out the chair for Maya to sit down. He wanted to go to Dennys for a quick lunch.
"So I thought you ain't have any kids?" Maya said
"Look my daughter died last year and we just met each other then. I ain't want to you all in my business like that." Greg said
"Well when you say it like that," Maya said
"I ain't mean it like that baby. I'm just saying I'm very private with my personal life" he said
Maya looked at him knowing he was serious but ain't mean no harm.
"So you said she wasn't supposed to be here what do you mean by that?" Maya asked
"After our daughter died she just got crazy. I want another one by me. I blame her for what happened to my baby" he said
"May I ask what happened?" She said
"She left some pills out and my baby thought it was candy they don't know how many she ate." He said looking down
Greg continues to explain
"Like how do you leave fentanyl out? doctors said there wasn't anything they could do. I didn't even know the bitch was taking pills. She was only two. Honestly, I don't wanna talk about it no more. Just change the subject" He said
"I'm sorry," Maya said touching his hand
"It's a cool shorty. I'm not even hungry no more." Greg said
"We can go," Maya said getting up
Greg got up leaving a tip. They got in the car and drove back to Maya's shop. Greg pulled up parking not saying anything.
"You going back to the office?" Maya asked
"Nah." He said keeping it short.
"I don't have to work today I'll let Kim finish up," Maya said
"Nah you good. Go back to work" he said not looking at her
Maya didn't expect him to act like this after talking about his daughter but she gets it. It was his only baby. Ain't no telling What was going threw his head.
"I'm sorry about bringing it up," Maya said
"You good Maya, go back in I'll call you later," he said leaning over and kissing Maya.
Maya got out looking at Greg. He just backed up pulling off.

Greg pulled off mad, upset, and all the above thinking about it all over again. He didn't blame Maya for bringing it up but he was still grieving even though it's been 6 years. His baby would have been 8. Greg pulled up at his office seeing Dani outside his building. Greg out slamming his door.
"Yo wtf you doing here Dani?" He said
"To see you," she said
"About what?" He said
"We need to talk?" Dani said
