Maeve landed outside the doors to the palace of Hybern. She waited and turned around, waiting for Aelin to come through the portal, but no portal appeared. Maeve howled in rage and sent out spikes of magic across the land. She then knocked on the massive jet black doors to the castle and they swung open as if a mysterious force had pushed them open. She stepped through, and found herself surrounded by guards, who chained her up. Maeve asked why they were doing this, and their only reply was to drag her along what seemed like an endless hallway, but they finally reached majestic doors that led into the throne room. They pushed them open, and threw Maeve in front of the throne like a sack. She stared up at the throne, and found a familiar face she had lost hope in. She stared back up at Haeda, and passed out in shock.
