Shuffling into the elevator with your groceries, you sighed as you set them down. Their weight was hurting your arms.

"Hey, hold the doors!" Quickly stopping the doors from closing, you stepped aside to let the person on. Immediately regretting it when you saw who it was. It was your neighbor from down the hall. A rough looking man, who looked like he delt with the wrong kind of people. You've tried not to talk to him too much.

Even he seemed surprised when he saw you but stayed to one side of the elevator. Letting the awkward atmosphere settle, you prayed that it would be over soon. Tensing when you felt the elevator shake as the lights flickered. Something happened and even he knew it. Pulling out your phone, you immediately tried calling someone in the apartment office. Frowning when it didn't go through. He was talking on his phone though.

" That long? Fine. Please hurry." When he hung up, he looked over at you, "They said it will take a couple hours before they can get anyone up here to help us."

"Did they say what happened?" You asked.

"Something about a power outage." nodding at the answer, you let the awkward silence fill the empty space again. If you were going to be stuck with him for several hours, this silence wasn't going to make it comfortable. Realizing that he was reaching out, you flinched away.

"I'm Randal, a construction werewolf." He introduced, "You're my neighbor, right? Sorry I haven't introduced myself. It's been a bit busy at work with the new construction of the library."

He's a construction worker? That would actually explain a lot. Realizing you were being rude; you shook his hand.

"Oh, sorry, I'm (Y/N) (L/N)." You greeted, "So you're working on the new library. How that coming along?"

"It's getting done. We're about ready to start the inside." He explained before pausing and giving you a small grin, "You wouldn't happen to be the teacher, Ms. (L/N), would you?"

"I am." You admitted shuffling back a little. There was almost no way this guy would know what you do for a living. The fact that he does scares you a little.

"I thought so." He chuckled swiping on his phone before holding it out to you, "You're my nephew's teacher. He talks a lot about you."

Looking at the picture, you grinned when you saw one of your students on it.

"All good things, I hope." You chuckled, feeling a little more relaxed.

"Of course." He laughed, leaning against the wall.

-Several Hours Later-

"I'm just saying if it's a person being forced to adopt a small child, those movies tend to get the most viewers." He argued, "You can't tell me I'm wrong on that."

"Okay, yes. You have a point, but can you blame people? Watching an overly curious child with a stressed-out adult is funny to watch. Not to mention the sudden protectiveness is sweet." You chuckled.

"Fine, you're right." He laughed, "Really, I still can't believe you're single. You're so easy to talk to and you like practically everything."

"Yeah, well, I'm not too keen on getting another date since everything that happened with the last one." You sighed.

"What? What happened?" He sounded really eager to hear about it. Not like you're trying to hide it or anything.

"Well, the last guy was a vampire, but he wasn't a good boyfriend." You explained, showing him an area on your neck where your ex had bit you, "He wanted me to turn, and I didn't want to. He got physically violent, so I broke it off with him. It only got worse though. He started stalking me and even broke into my room at the time to force me to turn. It wasn't a good experience for me."
