"So what's up with you and birdie? She's been a mess since Wednesday."

That's the first thing Zoë said to me as she picked me up for school on Friday.

"Nothing, we had a disagreement." I said waving her off.

"A disagreement?" Zoë raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah." I said as I started playing music in her car.

I started playing music, her favourite song in particular, to try and distract her from the topic because I don't exactly know what I want to do myself with the whole situation between me and Birdie.

"Not gonna work, as much as I love Lana. Birdie said she made a huge mistake and has been a mess. What happened?" Zoë asked and i just sighed realising that there is no way out of the this conversation.

"Remember I told you both I needed some time because I had things going on. She thought it was about Valentina, because she was the only teacher in school who didn't give me shit for not knowing the work. I don't blame either of you for assuming that because it wasn't fair that I never said anything and just left you all to assume. But she went on to talk about my mom saying that nothing could've so overwhelming for me because it's not like my mom came back." I said.

"It wasn't fair, she knows how mom's death affected me yet she still said all that. She even suggested I should break up with Val. " I said softly.

"Shit, she went too far. Like really far. That's not fair, I'm sorry Letty." Zoë said as calm as she could but I could see she was angry.

Zoë's mom died helping my mom who was helping her. They died together essentially.

It's how me and Zoë became friends, she transferred from Holder private school for a fresh start after everything. We clicked and spent a huge chunk of sophomore year crying.

She knows better than anyone how my mom's death affected me, and I know how her mom dying affected her.

"It's fine, it was a heated moment, she was confused and angry I guess." I said excusing Birdies actions.

"About what? You told us you were going to be busy, missing school and all, even if it was a large amount of time you spent away, at least you said something. And her suggesting you break up with the one person who's making you happy right now is spiteful." Zoë said calmly.

"It's fine Zo, I'll talk to her soon or whatever. It doesn't matter." I said nonchalantly waving her off.

"How's Quinn?" I asked her changing the subject as we neared school.

"She's doing okay now. We had an argument a couple days ago, which I take full responsibility for, but we talked and I apologised so we're okay now." She said as her lips arched into a smile.

"At least you talked, and didn't storm away."

"I've been meaning to talk to you about that." Zoë said as she parked her car in the school parking lot.

She turned in her seat to face me fully and I arched an eyebrow in confusion.

"The way you acted towards Val wasn't okay, Letty. It's not my relationship I know and whatever you're going through I know you'll be okay, but you treated Val like actual shit." She said suddenly so seriously that I was taken aback.

"I know, I'm planning on making it up to her." I said meekly.

"I want you to be happy, always. But walking away from the argument instead of talking about it isn't right. So as your best friend, i should tell you try and talk it out. Don't raise your voice so easily, listen to all sides and especially when it comes to arguments don't give up so easily and turn to the silent treatment." She said less serious and with a small smile.
