Happiness

Eve and Anni

"You know the problem with you is, I can't tell if you are happy or sad with that smile"

The quiet girl next to her sighs, before letting out an airy laugh.

The sun teased her skin, and she dared to look at the girl next to her. The girl in question was Anni. She had pink hair and tired blue eyes, that perfectly matched her sharp facial features.

"What if I'm both"

She smiles and leans back into the grass, staring up towards the clear blue sky. It's been awhile since the sky was this blue. This planet has a lot of oxygen, which is why they don't need their masks.

Anni is happy about that, because she can see Eve's face more clearly now. It's been awhile, but she can see that Eve is still every bit as beautiful as she was before. With her brown hair and purple eyes, shining ever so brightly. Eve was always shining, it must be a human thing, even if she's only half human after all.

"I mean, there are many ways one can be happy"

Anni looked over at Eve in interest, liking the quiet atmosphere around them. She's not used to this, the silence.

Space might be quiet, but there is always so much happening around them. It's never calm or easy, like right now. It's hard to have a normal conversation when it's not just the two of them.

"Sometimes you know too much to be fully happy"

A comfortable silence took over them as Anni took in her words. Eve smiled at the pinks thinking face.

"You know, traveling the galaxies with you, has made me the happiest yet"

Eve teased her, and smiled when she saw the pink blush spread across Anni's face. Almost as pink as her hair.

"Anni, you make me want to keep this up forever, despite the circumstances"

Anni looked over at her with a deeper blush, and slapped her thigh in embarrassment.

"Eve!"
She whined cutely. Eve laughed at her cuteness.

This almost childlike calm was so new for them, and something worth remembering and holding on to. It's not always like this, because they are on the run constantly. Eve knows she made the right choice to take Anni with her on this journey.

"But this will all be over one day, right? All over?"

Anni asks quietly.

Eve sits up and takes Anni's hand in hers. She looks into the pinks eyes, that are filled with small crystal tears.

"You and I, we will find a planet to finally settle on, when this is all over, and live together until the end. I promise you I will do everything it takes to make sure this happens."

One day the stars would align in their favor.

One day they, together with the rebellion, would defeat the dictator who is ruling the galaxies, and peace will be brought back to the universe. One day it will all be over, and this calm will be a usual thing for them.

But for now, all the two lovers need, is each other.

Eve and Anni, happy together, forever.
