'Yes he is,' sniffed Doris. 'What do you think he turned up here for?' She turned to her father. 'Where's mummy?' she demanded. 'We want to tell her our many achievements of this term.'

Now, if she was in her right senses, Alicia would have made a cutting remark. But so shocked was she, that she left a perfect opportunity hanging in mid air.

'She's not here today, girls,' said Marc. 'But I am! We can have a fun time together. You can come to my concert in the afternoon!' He looked around. 'In fact, since my daughters are here in this school, why don't all of you come for free?'

A huge cheer rose up. The Pi Sisters sniffed.

'Who does he think he is?' said Fanny haughtily. 'Inviting the whole school like that to listen to his pop rock garbage. Why, if he were not my father, I would certainly not even go to the concert. But unfortunately, Mummy said we had to be nice to him.'

They stared at their father, who was unfortunately handing out autographs to Alicia and Darrell at the moment. This inflamed the Pi Sisters' cold, spiteful tempers even more.

Alas, the Pi Sisters were in for horrible time that day. First, they went to watch a film. But their daddy even spoiled that; he had a cameo role. Next came an unfortunate tea, which might have gone down well had it not been for the gaggle of fans clustered around the Pi Sisters, shoving them out of the way to get autographs. One fan knocked a cream-laden scone onto Doris's face, leaving her in a very foul mood indeed.

'Well, I don't think this evening can get any worse,' glared Doris, dabbing the jam and cream off her face.

'Don't jinx it – we still have that awful concert to endure, and even Alicia will be there!' said Fanny.

And right she was. If the Pi sisters thought the rest of the day was bad, then this concert was awful. The Pi sisters were jostled about, snapped pictures of, and at one point, even got pushed on stage. When the night ended, they were in a horrible temper. Seeing Alicia dancing and cheering angered them even more.

Thus half term ended- with a pair of furious Pi sisters, a cheerful Alicia, and a puzzled father.

'I simply can't understand why they didn't like the concert,' he thought to himself. 'I shall call them on stage the whole time next time. Maybe then they'll enjoy it!'
