Choose today who you will serve

Joshua 24:14-15
NKJV
14 "Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

God has fulfilled all His promises to the Israelites and given them the promised land and divided it among them. Joshua has gotten old and is allowing the Lord to speak through him. God is telling the people who they will serve and gives them a choice.

Every day we have a choice. Circumstances and life are out of our control but our actions, attitude, and behaviour are in our control.

Every day I have to ask myself. Will, I make this an idol or give it to God and focus on Him? Will I look at today as another day to go through or as leftovers for God's glory? Will I choose to love people or gossip and complain about their shortcomings? Will I scroll through social media and compare myself to others every day knowing nothing about their lives but only knowing their good times and not their pain? Will I choose to be a bad daughter, sister, and friend or will I be intentional and give people my time?

Like the Israelites, we have a choice each day to choose between the idols of our hearts or God. The truth is that we always worship something. There is always something that we hold dear to our hearts and value.

Often we don't realise it but I want someone today to pay attention and tell God that they choose to serve Him. They choose to serve Him with their minds, hearts, lives, obedience etc and use it all for His glory.

Today choose not to serve yourself and your kingdom. Not to serve the enemy and his kingdom but to serve the kingdom of heaven.

I want you to desire to serve God, desire to see God use you and desire to obey and follow His Spirit alone.

May this lead your prayer for today.
