~31~ The first night in Seoul

The last days Yibo and I spent together, we watched the last remaining episodes of The Untamed, the weather was going crazy and going outside was out of the question. We only went out once in the evening when we watched a movie together at the cinema. Apart from that we spent most of the time at home, cooked together and then ate in bed while we watched one or the other movie on Netflix. And the rest of the time, well, we let our emotions run free.

This morning we landed in Seoul and my parents-in-law insisted on picking us up in person at the airport. Yibo didn't seem to be nervous at all and told me that as long as I was with him, he didn't care where he went. Sometimes I wonder if Yibo is real when he says something like that or if I just imagine that he exists.

When we reached the huge estate of my in-laws, Yibo looked at me in amazement for the first time. I winked at him and he asked me if all this really belongs to them. I nodded and explained to him that this property has been in the Park family for generations, but never more than 6 Park's lived in this house at the same time. That's strange, considering that they could easily house 30, if not 40 people.

Next to the old main house, which was a manor house in long ago times, there are two annexes, but they are also 50 and 45 years old. At that time, relatives of the family lived there, today important employees of their company live there with their assistants or wives.

There is also a big pool house, even there ten people could live without any problems, and without getting in each other's way. Currently the two personal assistants of my parents-in-law live there. And then there is another wing where the domestic workers live. Each domestic worker has his own spacious room.

In the lower part of the house live my parents-in-law. Since my father-in-law has problems with his knees, he cannot climb stairs as well and there is no elevator in the house.

The second floor, where Yibo and I will live, used to be for special guests. The family itself used to live on the third floor, so at least they had their bedrooms there.

In the house there is also a huge library, which is in the basement, right next to the men's room, I swear you can still smell the cigar smoke even though no cigar has been smoked there for more than 30 years. In the past the Park's tried to live like the people from the West and furnished the house like that.

When Seo Joon first told me about his home, I expected a kind of castle on my first visit, but I did not expect it to be just an oversized house with annexes. I suppose if I had told Yibo about the property before, he would have thought, as I did, that he would live in a castle from now on.

Two employees were struggling to get our bags upstairs. Yibo asked me why they hadn't built in another elevator afterwards, so I told him that the office for monument protection had forbidden this. "They are not even allowed to install a stairlift. It's ridiculous, considering this house has been owned by the Park's for generations."

Yibo agreed with me completely and also found this absolutely questionable. My mother-in-law wanted to know which room our luggage should be taken to. She let us choose our rooms, but Yibo and I had already talked about it in Beijing and decided that we wanted to share the big bedroom. The one that Seo Joon was arranging for him and me at that time.

So I told my mother-in-law that Yibo and I would take the master bedroom and she didn't expect any explanation. I've prepared all kinds of explanations. She just nodded, smiled and instructed the staff to take the suitcases to the master bedroom.

As I had been there more than once before, I was familiar with the place and so my in-laws did not have to show us around. I went upstairs with Yibo and showed him everything.
