A lot had changed about Dami.
He was reserved, though he had always been that way, just a little more now.
He looked really good, it was obvious that life had treated him fair.

It's been 2 days since I bumped into him and I still couldn't bring myself to call him.
I would take his card out and just stare at it, but wouldn't call.

Seeing him brought back high school memories which I was now ashamed of, given that Dami and I have found ourselves in different worlds.

Times back then when we would just sit hand in hand, feeling so shy to say anything to each other.

"Oh my God ,we were so shy" I uttered to myself laughing.

He wasn't one to be in the spotlight nor was I.
Except of course he was so good at sports, that was what brought us that close by the way.

We had been in the same class, but we never really talked.
Not like I had a lot of people I talked to back then, I could go for an introvert.

Even though I caught him starring sometimes, I never cared much about it.

Not until we found ourselves leading the same sports team.
By default, we began talking and the feelings started growing silently until I said yes to being his girlfriend.

That was the first time I was getting that much attention from a guy.
In my school, there were many beautiful girls and I never really thought myself to be that beautiful.

Dating Dami helped me grow my esteem.
I mean, he was like the cutest guy in my set then and at the same time he had a great personality.

Girls wanted to have him, but of them all, he chose me.
Wasn't I lucky?
I can't say for sure why he chose me though.

It's funny how bumping into someone could help you remember life events with them.

My phone rang breaking into my thoughts.
I reached for it and answered.

"Hello?" I said calmly.

"Yeah, I knew you would never call though" he said laughing.

"Dami?"

"Yeah it's Dami"

"Why did you feel that way?" I asked smiling.

"I can't say for sure."he replied.

I giggled.

"How have you been?"I asked

" Fair enough so far, one headache off"he replied .

"What do you mean one headache off?" I asked chuckling in my uncertainty.

"Just dropped my son off at school. He is in a boarding school now and today was his first day." He answered.

"Awwwn, did he cry?" I asked smiling.

"I taught him to be a strong man. Though I know he must have cried when I left,he didn't while I was still around" he said proudly.

"Not crying is being strong?" I asked.

"That's what they say" he replied.

I laughed.

"Your only child?" I asked.

"No, I have an 8 year old girl too" he said plainly.

"That's great"

I shouldn't have brought this topic up, now I was scared he would ask about my children too.

"Where do you stay?" I asked trying to change the topic.

"Ehmm around Osa area" he answered

"You sounded so unsure" I laughed.

"Did I ?" He laughed.

"I stay at Osa for now, though I'm thinking of moving out" he replied.

"Why's that?"

"It's not really a nice place for raising kids, it's too rough and noisy"

"Yeah, I think I've heard of Osa before, but I've never really been there" I said.

"So I've currently found a place at Tosil estate. Pretty cool place" he said plainly.

" Tosil estate Dami, really?" I asked surprised.

"Yeah, why?" He asked.

"Tosil estate is for the elites na"

"Am I not an elite?" He asked laughing hard.

I laughed too.

"Tosil has cool houses that I like"he said

"Wow, that would be a great move Dami"

"Great ko, great nii" he said laughing.

"Ah Dami, you caught me on that one"I laughed hard.

"I knew I did.
Why would I want to go to Tosil estate?
Probably after buying the house, I would crawl on my feet begging to feed my family" he said

I laughed hard.

"I heard a house there costs 150million"
I said.

"Yes, some are costlier too" he said.

"But that aside,I didn't lie about wanting to move out though. I've found a nice place , but not tosil estate" he laughed.

"Your prank worked on me" I laughed again.

"I knew it would. Like I was so sure"

"I wonder what's giving you this confidence"I smiled.

" the fact that I know you" he said calmly.

We were quiet after that.

"Can we meet up sometime this week?
Just to sit and talk?"
He asked breaking the silence.

"Yeah, sure we can"

"Which day is more convenient for you?" He asked.

"You choose" I said.

"Ehmm, let's say Friday night?" He asked

"That should be okay"I replied.

" Any dress code?" I asked

"Dress code?" He asked surprised.

"Don't worry, I forgot we are now older so those things don't matter" I waved it off.

" who told you such?" He asked.

I shrugged and sighed.

"Look your best Amara" he said ,his voice calm.

"By the way, you still look beautiful"

"at 46?" I asked in doubt.

"Yes you do"

"Thanks for the compliment Dami"

I felt he had smiled.

"Okay ,Friday night it is?"

"Yeah"

"Can I pick you?" He requested.

I laughed "why would you want to?"

"I thought that's what gentle men do?" He asked amazed.

"Okay, if you can find your way" I smiled.
"
"Take care of yourself okay?"

"Sure,Bye"
I said as he hung up.

Was I to call this a date, or just a reunion hang out?
Whatever it was, I just wished for it to go well.

🙂I'm beginning to suspect this our new character Damilare.

I mean what does he even want and why did he have to come now?
