“Hey Betty” I said walking into the ice cream parlor.

The little bell let off it's sound as soon as I opened the door.

“Hey sweetie” she said.

I smiled and went back to put my apron on. I tied it around my waist and walked out behind the counter.

“Hey, baby girl” Dylan said buffing wet cups.

“Hey, how long have you been here?” I asked.

“I got here 10 minutes ago, parents drove me. Damn can't wait to buy a car” Dylan groaned.

“Trust me, I feel that” I said.

“How? You legit have a car already” he said laughing and shaking his head.

“Yeah, but I did wait forever for it” I huffed. I hate when people think I get stuff handed to me.

“I just want a car, so I can finally start dating guys without worrying about car trips and stuff ” Dylan said.

I couldn't help but laugh, he looked at me and glared. “Hey, you know how hard it is to be gay? But then not having a car too” Dylan said.

“Yes I know, well I mean I'll never know, know. But I do know what it feels like to be different”

“And that's why you're my best friend” Dylan said winking.

“Better be” I said rolling my eyes dramatically.

Customers came in and I took orders. We were actually improving a lot these days. We had a lot more people coming in. Betty even changed her menu a little and added desert, and cold with hot drink to it.

I saw a Muslim family walk in. There was a man in his mid thirties and a women about the same. There was a small girl looking about Masoud's age. She had her black hair separated into pony tails.

The woman had a long dress on, with her matching hijab. That is another reason why I knew they were Muslim.

I went to get there order, since Dylan practically almost pushed me there.

“Assalamualaikum, welcome to Betty's Best Ice Creams. May I take your orders?” I asked with confidence.

I was looking towards the man for an answer but he just stared at me. He had a horrible look in his eyes almost like he was… disappointed?

The women smiled at me “Walekum asalam Madina” she said looking at my name tag.

“Yes we would like to have two chocolate milkshakes. And one Sundae with a cherry on top” The Hijabi lady said winking at her daughter who giggled.

“Okay, coming right up” I said with a smile. I couldn't help but look at the man. He lowered his head and shook it ever so slightly.

What the hell is his problem?

I walked to the back and gave Dylan the order.

“How did it go?” he asked.

“Just great” I said sarcastically.

“Later?” he asked.

“Later” I agreed.

Dylan and I had thing where if we couldn't talk about the situation right away. We always agreed to ‘Later’ Aadila was in on it too.
