I felt soft taps on my face. I wanted to open my eyes, but somehow my body kept shutting down.

My everyday struggle of life…

Is getting up in the morning.

As stupid as it sounds, we all go through it.

I opened one of my eyes and saw Masoud’s hazel green eyes shining in my view.

I reached out and ran my fingers through his soft curly hair.

“Salam Dina” he smiled kneeling on his knees.

“Salam buddy” I yawned.

“Why are you waking me up?” I asked closing my eyes.

“Momma has been trying to wake you up the whole morning” Masoud said.

“Why? It's Saturday” I said pulling the blanket closer to my face.

“Umm I don't think so Dina. It's Friday” Masoud said.

My eyes shot open too quickly. I felt my brain awakening.

“It's Friday?” I asked.

“Yes Dina” he said getting up and fixing his collar.

“Madina! Get up!” my momma ran into my room then she stopped when she saw my eyes were open.

“Finally you're up, hurry up! You're already late for school zoot (quickly)” momma said.

She turned around as I got out of bed grabbing any type of clothes I saw.

Momma turned back around as Masoud left my room.

“Sweat heart?”

“Yeah momma?” I asked brushing my hair out.

“Why is your bed in the middle of your room?” she asked.

I stopped brushing my hair and remembered everything from last night. Bryson… is still sleeping in here?

“Huh?” I asked trying to think of something on the spot.

“Your bed isn't against the wall like it always is why?” she asked squinting her eyes.

“Oh yeah last night I moved the bed because the walls were really cold” I said awkwardly.

Momma rested her hand on her hip as she stared me down.

You could literally never lie to this woman.

“Mhmm” she said still staring at me.

“Hurry up, and come down your breakfast is ready” momma said shutting my door.

I let out a deep breath. I put my hoodie on walking towards the wall slowly.

I got on top of my bed creeping towards the wall slowly.

When I looked down the spot was empty…

Completely empty.

No sheets, or the blankets I put for him last night.
